Genesis 5:2  “He created them male and female…”
From the beginning, God intended only two genders, male and female, man and woman.  They were to complement each other.  By created intent, one gender is not qualified to complement another of the same gender.

2  “…called them Mankind…”
God created man then created woman from man.  Therefore, human beings are all mankind.  To arbitrarily decide that the term mankind is sexist in any way shows great arrogance, audacity, ignorance, and stupidity.  It also denies the existence and supreme sovereignty of Almighty God.

3  “…Adam lived one hundred and thirty years…begot a son…named him Seth”
Question raised during the last chapter regarding timeline of Seth.  Here it shows he was born to Adam and Eve when Adam was 130.  As Eve was probably created fairly soon after Adam, we can assume she was also approximately 130 years old.  We can also assume that they had other sons and daughters during those years, and those descendents had been reproducing.  I would guess that Seth is singled out because he was born after the death of Abel and his descendents followed God more so than the other children of Adam.

5  “…Adam lived…nine hundred and thirty years…”
Because the pre-flood people lived so long, they could pass down hundreds of years of history directly to multiple generations.  The descendents of Adam through Seth were Enosh, Cainan, Mahalaleel, Jared, Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech, and Noah.  Adam lived long enough to see Lamech born.  Lamech was 56 years old when Adam died, so there was plenty of time for Adam to pass on the information directly to him.  When Noah was born, Enosh, Cainan, Mahalaleel, Jared, Methuselah, and Lamech were still living, and he was 84 years old when Enosh died.  Noah was 600 years old when the flood started, approximately year 1656 since creation.  Methuselah was the only one of his direct ancestors still alive, and he died that year.  It’s unknown if Methuselah died of natural causes or from the flood.

6-31  Genealogy of Adam through Seth down to Noah.  Noah would have been born approximately in year 1056 from creation.

21-24  “…Enoch walked with God three hundred years…Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him”
He was so godly he didn’t die.  God apparently translated him directly, something of a pre-rapture transformation.  What an awesome legacy in a terribly godless age.

I hope you enjoy reading and studying His word.  May it accomplish what He desires.  Please feel free to comment or post questions.  Thanks for reading!
