Proverbs 21:1  “The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD…He turns it wherever He wishes”
Doesn’t matter who the government is, God is still in control.  He can direct the heathen just as much as the saved.  His purposes will be accomplished.

2  “…the LORD weighs the hearts”
Only He can see the whole truth to know exactly what is going on.  We question why things happen like they do, but we never know everything.  We must trust that He is working everything for good.

3  “To do righteousness and justice Is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.”
May do a study or sermon on this.  Points at the idea of Christianity, that it isn’t a religion but a relationship.  Not what you do, but Who you know.

4  “…the plowing of the wicked are sin”
Commentaries say it was literally the lamp.  Their brightness or outward sign of prosperity.  Sin because it is done outside of a relationship with God.  Reminds me of 1 Corinthians 13:3.  Without the love that is from Christ, even the best of actions are to no profit.

9  “Better to dwell in a corner of a housetop, Than in a house shared with a contentious woman.”
Several of these mentioned.  With six hundred wives and three hundred concubines, I guess Solomon had some insight.

11  “When the scoffer…”
Repeat.  Similar to 19:25.

12  “The righteous God…”
Says the righteous one or probably the masculine form of righteous which is why the word God is in italics showing it isn’t actually in the original Hebrew.  Some translate it as man, but many as God apparently from the context, righteous and the power to judge and overthrow the wicked.

15  “It is a joy for the just to do justice…”
Doing what is right is a joy.  Seeing God work is an awesome privilege.

19  “Better to dwell…”
So amusing.  Better off alone in the corner of your attic or out in the wilderness than with a contentious woman.  Solomon got an ear full.”

22  “A wise man scales the city of the mighty…”
Power of wisdom.

23  “Whoever guards his mouth and tongue Keeps his soul from troubles.”
Oh yeah.

27  “The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination; How much more when he brings it with wicked intent!”
Another good point showing God’s desire for relationship.  You can’t buy off God.  Worse if you have ulterior motives.

30  “There is no wisdom or understanding Or counsel against the LORD.”
No way to out maneuver God.  You can’t out-think Him.

31  “The horse is prepared for the day of battle, But deliverance is of the LORD.”
Power is not of man but of God.  Unless God builds the house, they labor in vain who build it.

I hope you enjoy reading and studying His word.  May it accomplish what He desires.  Please feel free to comment or post questions.  Thanks for reading!
