Revelation 8:1  “…the seventh seal…silence in heaven for about half an hour”
Breaking the seventh seal appears to set the stage for the next set of judgments, the seven trumpets.  We’re not told the meaning of the half hour of silence, but it’s obviously important for John to mention it.  Perhaps it is a time of solemn preparation before the beginning of the next judgments.

4  “…the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God…”
Rising before God.

Note:  Now move into the trumpet judgments

7  “…first angel sounded…third of the trees…all green grass…burned up”
Destruction of vegetation.  Third of trees, but all the grass.  I’ve heard that grass actually provides more oxygen into the atmosphere than trees.  Will make breathing difficult.

8-9  “…second angel sounded…something like a great mountain burning with fire…third of the living creatures…died…third of the ships destroyed”
May be supernatural, but could also be a large meteorite.  Hits the oceans.  Third of the seas become blood, third of sea creatures die, and a third of ships are destroyed.  Destruction of natural life and commerce.

10  “…third angel sounded…a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch…third of the rivers and on the springs of water”
Similar to the second trumpet.  This one does fall from the heavens like a star, but it hits the sources of fresh water, polluting them.  Men die due to the polluted water.  Again, could be natural or supernatural.  Either way, it is coming from God whether He chooses to use part of the natural universe He has created or something He creates especially for this time.

12  “…fourth angel sounded…third of the sun…third of the moon…third of the stars…were darkened…”
What He spent five days creating, God is slowly destroying.  Removing a third of the light.

13  “…Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the remaining blasts of the trumpet of the three angels who are about to sound!”
From the time the era started, things have been going from bad to worse.  Longer it goes, the worse it will get.  As Jesus said, unless God shortened the days, nothing on earth would survive.

I hope you enjoy reading and studying His word.  May it accomplish what He desires.  Please feel free to comment or post questions.  Thanks for reading!
