Bible Study Notes on Exodus 31 – 20190324

WritingIIIExodus 31:2  “…I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah”
Specialized call.  God didn’t just have Moses pick talented people, He gave him the name of the ones He wanted to do the work, people He had given special abilities to.  God is a personal God.  He knows each of use intimately.  As Jesus said, the hairs of our head are numbered.

6  “…appointed with him Aholiab the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan…”
These two must have been like supervisors who could oversee all the work that was done.

14  “…Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people”
An instance where the phrase cut off is defined as being put to death.  The punishment for profaning the Sabbath.

17  “It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever…”
Between God and the Israelites.  While having a day of rest is a good idea and respectful of what God did, the Sabbath rest was specifically for them.  Christians now celebrate the first day of the week since Christ rose from the grave then.  But this clearly says the Sabbath is between God and the Israelites forever, so I see no reason they shouldn’t observe it if they wish.

18  “…He gave Moses two tablets of the Testimony, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God”
That would be something to see.  Wonder if they are still contained within the Ark.

I hope you enjoy reading and studying His word.  May it accomplish what He desires.  Please feel free to comment or post questions.  Thanks for reading!
