1 Timothy 1:4 “Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies…which is in faith…”
Wonder if it was that of Christ? Some have issue with the two we have now, line of Joseph and Mary. Why are they there? Why include Joseph’s line? We accept by faith that it is there for His purpose and work to understand that, not argue about its existence. Commentary suggests reference to early Gnostic teachings on genealogies.
1 Timothy 2:4 “Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”
1 Timothy 2:15 “…she shall be saved in childbearing…”
He makes reference to Eve and the choice leading to the fall. Then the idea of child bearing. Eve wasn’t thrown away, but was able to continue in that for which she was created. Her choice? To endure the pain of childbirth, to sacrifice, in order to give life? Commentary sees what I see. He also adds that it is not salvation as a result of but in spite of. As man can be saved although he must work by the sweat of his brow, woman can be redeemed although she will have pain in childbirth.
