Proverbs 15:1 “…soft answer turns away wrath…harsh word stirs up anger”
Have experienced this myself. And it doesn’t have to be an actual harsh word, only one that is perceived so. It wasn’t so much what he said as how he said it.
3 “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, Keeping watch on the evil and the good.”
That bit of truth is well worth remembering. Nothing escapes Him. Not to mention He knows everything before it happens anyway.
6 “In the house of the righteous there is much treasure…”
Righteousness produces good.
8-9 “The sacrifice of the wicked…The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD…”
God isn’t blind. He cannot be fooled by fake worship or acts thereof. He is not some mindless beast of a god that must be appeased by our token actions. He sees through us to the heart. More importantly, He desires a true relationship with us. He doesn’t want what we think we can do for Him or what we can give Him, He wants us. To try to begin to comprehend that boggles the mind.
10 “…he who hates correction will die”
Not killed for punishment, but his undisciplined actions will one day lead to his demise.
11 “Hell and Destruction are before the LORD; So how much more the hearts of the sons of men.”
13 “A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance, But by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.”
Another great truth I have experienced.
15 “…he who is of a merry heart has a continual feast”
Joy makes every day bright.
19 “The way of the lazy man is like a hedge of thorns, But the way of the upright is a highway.”
Could be of his own making, but also for his instruction. To give him opportunity to become diligent.
22 “Without counsel, plans go awry…”
Wish more folks could understand that. Listening to advice doesn’t diminish control or admit weakness.
23 “…a word spoken in due season, how good it is!”
Power of encouragement.
26 “The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD…”
So much evidence that what God wants is the truth, the real heart attitude. We cannot fool Him. Never let God’s seeming lack of action make you think He doesn’t know and care. In His time all will be accounted, all will be made right.
28 “…heart of the righteous studies how to answer…”
Desire to do what is right.
29 “…He hears the prayer of the righteous”
What a joy and comfort to know He hears us.
33 “…before honor is humility”
Not to be beaten down, but to fully understand our position. We are children of God because He loves us. Once we understand that it’s all Him and nothing of us, He can lift us to heights we could never imagine.
I hope you enjoy reading and studying His word. May it accomplish what He desires. Please feel free to comment or post questions. Thanks for reading!
